Our range of rings is named after remarkable women in a wide range of fields, with a focus on science and technology. The Ada ring was named after Ada Lovelace, mathematician and writer, considered the first computer programmer in history.
Born in 1815, she was the daughter of the poet Lord Byron. From an early age, Ada showed an interest in science and the arts, and received a rigorous education in mathematics and other subjects.
In 1833, Ada met mathematician Charles Babbage, considered the "father of computing". Babbage was working on a project called the Analytical Engine, which would be a machine capable of performing complex mathematical calculations. She was fascinated by the project and began collaborating with Babbage, helping him design and develop the machine.
In 1843, he wrote an article on the Analytical Engine, in which he included a series of instructions that would be considered the first computer programs in history. This article is considered a milestone in the history of computing andAda is credited with being the first computer programmer.
Ada died early, aged 36, in 1852, but her legacy in the history of computing is undeniable. Today, she is remembered as one of the leading forerunners of modern computing technology.
The Ada ring was designed using geometries and repetitions. A personality ring.
